Finleys’ Kitchen Cooking School launched on April 30 to rave reviews! My first student, an admitted non-cook, arrived at 11 a.m., eager to fix this lifelong TV dinner dilemma. We started by eating a simple brunch, prepared by me, and then moved on to bigger projects.
By 6 p.m., Denise welcomed two other guests and proceeded to serve up a four-course meal, complete with explanations and a smile on her confident face.
What happened between the end of brunch and the ringing of the doorbell? Timeline planning, Knife training, note taking, slicing, blanching, sauteing, chilling, beating, baking, plating, laughing and learning! Watch this blog site and your e-mail for the announcement of the next available class. These classes will have limited space, so sign up early. Tell your friends. Let’s get cooking!
I’m sooooo excited!!!! I actually cooked a 4 course meal and it turned out fabulous; but then I had a great teacher so what would you expect. Started out with a wonderful brunch; anytime Marjorie mentions waffles; I’m there 🙂 After taking notes, establishing a timeline, and getting equipment ready; we were off to a great start. I have to say, I was impressed with myself being able to cut and mince without losing a finger!! Along with my cooking lesson, I also learned the proper way to set a table for guests. Marjorie is amazing at ANYTHING she does, but being able to take a non-cooking person and be able to teach her basic skills is monumental!! I basically am able to boil water and scramble some eggs LOL. I’m looking forward to my next lesson, and feel confident that I can pick up this area in my life that has been lacking my whole lifetime. Thank you, Marjorie!! You’re the best; and a true dear friend!! Love you!! Bon Apetite’ I know I spelled that wrong, and I’m sure she’ll correct me LOL
One more thing; you would never guess how you roast red peppers!! I’m not telling so stick around, and I may reveal the secret…….
I was one of the lucky guests to enjoy the meal that Denise prepared under Marjorie’s guidance. What a lovely evening and meal we had. We began with delicious crab stuffed mushrooms, music, wine and conversation in the comfort of the livingroom. Next, we were invited into the diningroom where a beautiful table had been set complete with plate chargers and antique lace table cloth. Hearts of romaine salad with fresh herbed dressing, and then the main course of gourmet rolled chicken What was the special name – roulade???), Dijon sauce, asparagus, elegantly prepared and presented. Having a dinner party isn’t just about the food, but taking time to add the special touches make your guests feel so pampered. And don’t forget the wine … and dessert. Did I mention everything was waistline friendly – who could tell????
